Desi is an architecture studio based in Seoul, South Korea. Founded by Hyun-Jin Hwang, who was born and raised in Seoul, the studio emerged after he obtained his bachelor’s degree in architecture from Hongik University. Early in his career, he gained valuable experience working at the Jo Byung-Soo Architecture Studio. Subsequently, he established his own studio and undertook a variety of commercial space projects over several years. During this journey, he began to question the meaning of his work in life, which led him to pursue further studies in Milan, Italy. He earned a Master’s degree in ‘Building Architecture’ from Politecnico di Milano.
The goal of Desi is to discover the unique beauty of the world without merely evaluating existing phenomena and to maximize this beauty in reality. The world is filled with wonders that are hard to deny, bringing forth the existence of natural divinity. Through the medium of architecture, Desi aims to introduce various types of happiness to people, ultimately striving to convey the awe found in our surroundings.
